Introduction

SailorGuard ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the SailorGuard mobile application handles your information.

The short version: We do not collect, store, or share your personal data.

Information We Do NOT Collect

SailorGuard is designed with privacy in mind. We do not:

  • Create user accounts or require registration
  • Collect personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • Track your location or store GPS history
  • Store your boat's telemetry data on our servers
  • Use analytics or tracking software
  • Sell or share any data with third parties

How The App Works

SailorGuard connects directly to your boat's SignalK server, either:

  • Locally via your boat's WiFi network, or
  • Remotely via our secure cloud proxy

All boat data (position, wind, depth, anchor status) is transmitted in real-time and is not stored on our servers. The cloud proxy acts only as a relay — data passes through but is never logged or retained.

Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we use Push Notification services to deliver alerts to your device. This requires a device token, which is:

  • Used solely to send notifications to your device
  • Not linked to any personal information
  • Not shared with third parties

Data Storage

  • On your device: App settings (server addresses, preferences) are stored locally on your phone
  • On our servers: None of your personal or boat data is stored

Third-Party Services

The app may connect to:

  • Your SignalK server (your own hardware)
  • SailorGuard Cloud Proxy (relay only, no data retention)
  • Push Notifications (for alerts)
  • Google Maps (for map display)

These services have their own privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

SailorGuard is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
